Kita
Pop / R&B
Kita grew up doing things her way. Rules were never really her thing, and neither was waiting for permission! Not from anyone, not even from the people closest to her. Home wasn’t always easy, and a strict upbringing didn’t leave much room for someone with her kind of ambition, especially in music.
For a long time, singing was private. She’d do it at home to deal with things she couldn’t say out loud, she’s quiet like that. Nobody heard it, and that was fine. She started writing too, pulling from real experiences: relationships, growing up, friendships, the stuff that actually sticks. At some point it became obvious she was onto something.
Once she started going to studios and performing, there was no question. This was it. Not everyone around her gets it. most still see it as a side thing. Her mum doesn’t, though.
Being a young woman in this industry comes with its own obstacles, and Kita doesn’t pretend otherwise. That’s kind of the point of her music: be a baddie, chase what you want, and don’t let anyone talk you out of it. That’s what she wants girls hearing her songs to take away: that it’s possible, and that you’re not doing it alone.
